This
game was one that I had wanted to get for such a long time. So much so
that I would go in to the local gaming store and would ask them
periodically "When is Splinter Cell Double Agent coming in?" This I had
never done before and to say the least I didn't think that I would ever
see myself doing this to any game. I would even check out the UBI Soft
website on a regular basis just to see if there was even going to be
another installment of Splinter Cell.
Finally after quite
sometime I got to the ubi soft website and there it was. The new banner
saying SPLINTER CELL DOUBLE AGENT is out. I clicked on the link and
downloaded the video clips, the screenshots and all... I was excited to
see that there was going to be another installment.
When this
game was finally released I was stunned to see that not only wouldn't
my existing video card support the game but my processor was the
minimum requirements needed to run this game. I thought wow, this game
they have actually done alot of work to. This game MUST be awesome! I
convinced myself that I couldn't go without this game.
I raced
down to the local computer shop and got a major upgrade, I got a new
processor, new mainboard, 4GB RAM and 2 video cards to run this game in
SLi Mode. I went the whole hog. I then raced back to the local gaming
store and purchased a copy of Splinter Cell Double Agent.
When
my computer was finally up and running I got stuck in to this latest
installment of Sam Fisher and his adventures as a Splinter Cell Agent.
Initially I was a little lost as to how to play the game, just like in
the very first Splinter Cell. This was a little frustrating but after a
while I got the hang of it. Before I knew it I was about half way
through the game. So far so good, no crashes, no bugs that I could care
about nor notice.
This game was going so well on this new
system, I had got to a level where I was running around on top of
elevators and trying to get to this bad guy. Then I tragically fell to
my death. This was not what I had expected as I was right next to a
door and then not only did I walk through it but I fell to my demise. I
had saved the game so I was lucky. I thought I would try to get through
the same door again. Sure enough I died, this door seemed to be
transparent. Had I found my first bug?!? I had to test it one last
time, sure enough I died. I then quit the game and downloaded the
latest patch for it. This I usually did if the game wasn't performing
correctly. I updated it and the bug was gone.
I noticed there
was a "new revamped" multiplayer environment integrated in to this
game. I tried this and really enjoyed it. I was glad I had purchased
the game as I was able to play with others online. Very entertaining
and challenging on my slow internet connection but none the less I
loved the concept and the challenge.
Overall I found the game to
be challenging in some areas, well thought out, a few bugs in it that
would probably put me off the game if I wasn't already a fan. In
conclusions I would have to say that while this game was exciting and
was entertaining I could not recommend that you buy it unless you want
to have the whole collection of Splinter Cell to your name or if you
wanted to play this game on a multiplayer environment. I am sure this
opinion would change after a few patches are released.
